Privacy policy

Potato Today
Effective October 9, 2026 (new features apply from version 1.1.0)

Your journal stays on your device

No account is required. Moods, journal notes, little moments, sleep entries and selected photos are stored in the app’s storage on your device. They are not sent to a developer-operated server. The app does not use advertising, behavioral analytics or tracking SDKs.

Backups and external services

If you choose to export a backup, the iOS share sheet lets you save or share a ZIP file containing entries and photos. The exported file is not separately encrypted. The storage location or recipient you choose may have its own privacy policy. Import reads only the ZIP or legacy JSON backup file you select and keeps existing entries on the same date. Temporary import and export files are deleted when the operation ends.

Retention and deletion

Entries remain on the device until you delete them or the app’s storage is removed. You can delete today’s entry from the editor; yesterday’s entry can also be edited before 5 AM in your device’s local time. Older entries are read-only. Deleting the app may remove local entries. You must separately delete any backups from their saved locations. Operating-system device backups and restores follow your system settings and the provider’s policies.

Optional reminders

Reminders are off by default. Permission is requested only when you enable them. The 11 PM reminder is scheduled on your device. We do not collect push tokens or send them to a notification server. Notifications never include journal content. Disable reminders in the app or in iPhone Settings.

Photo selection

You may choose one photo per day using the system photo picker. Only the selected photo is copied into app storage. We do not read your entire photo library or upload photos to the developer.

In-app feedback

Only when you submit feedback, your message, optional reply email, app version and build, operating system and language are sent through Cloudflare and Resend to the developer’s inbox. The connection IP is used for rate limiting and is not included in the email body. Journal entries, photos and backups are never attached automatically. There is no separate feedback database; inquiries may be retained in the developer’s mailbox and according to the delivery service’s retention policies. Information is used to handle and respond to inquiries. Contact us below to request deletion. Direct email inquiries also involve your reply address and message.

Updates and service connections

The app can check for and receive compatible code updates using Expo EAS Update. Expo may process a random installation identifier, app and operating-system information, IP address and operational information such as errors to deliver updates and operate the service. Journal entries and photos are not included. App Store version checks and reviews use Apple services. Service providers may process IP addresses and other connection information when these services are contacted.

See the privacy policies of Expo, Cloudflare, Resend and Apple for their processing practices.
